The best offense is a good defense. The best way to prevent someone from being asleep is to spot them when they board. There will always be those who come in the back door when they enter—but at fifty-five minutes a trip from Ferry Plaza to Daly City, there is plenty of time to fall asleep.
Many wonder why the heat is not on when it’s cold outside. The answer is: we don’t want people falling asleep. Especially on our pull in trip!

Douglas Meriwether aka Driver Doug, is a 29 year resident of the city-by-the-bay, and has been a transit operator for the San Francisco Municipal Railway for 21 years. He retired in June of 2020.
